MET members concentrating at a recent workshop

Small things amuse us!

MET (The Miniature Enthusiasts of Toronto) was founded in 1976 to celebrate the art of fine dollhouse-scale miniatures. Our members are a diverse group of artisans, collectors, vendors, and appreciators from all backgrounds and disciplines.

We make fine dollhouse miniatures in scales from 1:12 (1 inch = 1 foot) right down to 1:144 (a dollhouse for a dollhouse!).

Be part of a warm, welcoming community! Meet people of all ages and skill levels—from curious beginners to internationally recognized miniature artisans. We thrive on sharing our knowledge through workshops and meetings featuring skill-building sessions, artisan talks and small “make & take” projects.

Every October we host our MET Show & Sale. It’s the biggest little show in Canada! We host more than 50 Dealer tables with unique miniature pieces for sale. Miniature artists display their latest work, with prizes awarded to the best of the best.

MET Club History

Fifty Years of Friendship, Fun, and Fabulous Miniatures!

On October 7th,1976, Margaret Everett convened a meeting at the Fairview library hoping to attract enough people to start a club for miniature lovers. Forty people attended and ‘The Miniature Enthusiasts of Toronto’ was formed. At a later meeting, Margaret’s daughter, Diane Wilton, gave the very first workshop in miniature making – a book – and the rest, as they say, is history.

Our first MET Show was held on November 6th, 1977, but not without some trepidation. “What if nobody comes?” said club member Wendy Russell, but she needn’t have worried. Approximately 4,000 people turned up, some members couldn’t even get in, and the lobby of the Hotel Triumph was packed!

Every fall since that fateful day (with only a few exceptions), MET has put on an outstanding Miniature Show and Sale that remains the highlight of our year.  We’ve held court from the Skyline Airport Hotel, the International Convention Centre, the Triumph Hotel and, since 2002, the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. It is a tradition we carry on with pride.

The miniatures landscape has changed considerably since MET began. There were more local stores in the 80’s and 90’s, and online shopping has since opened the world to buyers and sellers alike. Contrary to what you might think, the internet has been the perfect support for our hobby – enabling so many new artisans to sell to a global audience.  That said, there’s still nothing that replaces the face-to-face connection that can only happen when buyers and sellers get together to share their passion for this amazing art form at the annual MET Show.

Over the years our club has met faithfully, enjoying each other’s company as we learn new skills and elevate our craft.  We’ve participated in a wide variety of projects, community activities, charitable events and showcases. We’ve even gone online during the Covid pandemic, and our members include internationally renowned miniature artists, collectors and beginners alike; some of whom have been with us from the very start.  Through workshops, demonstrations, presentations, simple sharing and the annual MET Show we have uplifted and inspired fellow miniaturists since 1976.  Here’s to the next 50 years!

Wide smiles for the 2025 MET Club Holiday dinner.
